A decision was made without any input and great
disregards to our community. President Mike Sanchez and others attempted to call
off Elections for the 2008 President of the parade…………
Without any success, a “DEAL” was struck to
support ONE candidate after many of the announced candidates dropped
out. In favor of their support he joined and accepted outgoing president's
support.
It’s fitting that while reading the Chicago Suntimes I happen to stumble
upon an all to familiar name, a Roberto Rivera one of the eight arrested in a
1.6M Cook County theft scheme. This is the very same person that has been
eluding me since 2005.
Three former Cook County government employees and five others have
been charged with stealing as much as $1.6 million, including more than
$500,000 from taxpayers.
The county workers accused in the fraud scheme are employees of Cook
County Board President Todd Stroger's job training program, known as
the President’s Office of Employment Training, or POET.

What is Paseo Boricua?
Paseo Boricua, which stretches along Division Street from Western
Avenue to Mozart, represents a microcoosm of the Puerto Rican
historical and cultural experience. The 50 light poles adorned with
laser-etched wrought iron banners, representing images of the three
cultural experiences that define the Puerto Rican people (the Taino,
Spanish and West African,) the 16 placitas along the walkway; and the
variety of businesses with a Puerto Rican accent, all testify to this
reality.
